Hi everyone. I’m really distraught and heartbroken right now. I was gone for just two days visiting a friend, and I asked my dad to watch my cat while I was away. On Monday around 4 PM, I texted him to check in, and he said she was fine.
When I came home Tuesday night, she was nowhere to be found — not in the house, not outside, nowhere. Sometimes she sneaks into the garage and might slip past someone when the door opens, but my dad said he put her back in the room. I just don’t understand how she could’ve gotten out.

I live in a small rural area surrounded by woods, so there are a lot of places she could be hiding. I already set her litter box outside along with food and water, hoping she’ll catch the scent and come home. But I’m scared and don’t know what else to do.
She’s my ESA (emotional support animal), and I’m really struggling without her. The house feels so empty and quiet — she’s my comfort, and it’s not like her to run off like this. She’s fixed and microchipped, but she isn’t wearing her collar or harness right now. The nearest shelter is about 10–15 miles away, and I don’t have a car to check in person.
If anyone has advice or experience finding a lost cat in a rural area, please share it with me. I’m doing everything I can, but it just doesn’t feel like enough. I feel helpless and heartbroken.
The last confirmed time she was seen was Monday around 4 PM.
Please, if you’ve ever been through this, let me know what helped you get your pet back. I just want her home. 💔🐾
